MANILAgo777, Philippines — The Department of Labor and Employment’s National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) has affirmed daily wage increases of P23 for nonagricultural workers and P35 for agricultural workers in Northern Mindanao.
The NWPC also approved minimum monthly wage hikes for domestic workers in Northern Mindanao (P1,000) and Metro Manila (P500).
The wage orders of the Northern Mindanao wage board would be published on Dec. 27 and take effect on Jan. 12. On the other hand, the National Capital Region (NCR) wage order for domestic workers was published on Dec. 19 and would be effective starting on Jan. 4.

Article continues after this advertisementOn top of this, nine new wage orders were also issued for domestic workers in Metro Manila, Cordillera, Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga, with monthly wage increases ranging from P500 to P1,100.

Article continues after this advertisementIn addition, around 7.5 million full-time wage and salary workers earning above the minimum wage may also indirectly benefit as a result of upward adjustments at the enterprise level arising from the correction of wage distortion.
In Bicol, the wage board decided to defer the minimum wage determination process due to the impact of Supertyphoon Kristine (international name: Trami), which prompted the declaration of a state of calamity in the region in November. It said it would resume the process as soon as circumstances permit or by February next year.
In Davao, the wage board finished this month the consultations with various stakeholders in the region, with the outcomes to be factored into the minimum wage determination process scheduled next month.
