MI Cape Town recovered from Ryan Rickelton's early wicket and Rassie van der Dussen found an able partner in Reeza Hendricks who scored a half-century. Van der Dussen scored 43. Chasing 178, the Royals were off to a dream start. Openers Joe Root and Lhuan-dre Pretorius smashed 38 runs in the first three overs to take Royals off to a flier. However, Kagiso Rabada then bowled two maiden overs and dismissed both the openrs to derail Paarl's innings. After that, the Royals never recovered.
