In an exclusive interview with Billboard, Jennie said the album has been in production since early 2024 and is said to be the “puzzle of [her] dreams” as it gave her room for more creative freedom.

“I can’t explain how much that helped in terms of the beginning era of making this album. I never really had a chance to look back at myself [during Blackpink’s rise], so [this process] was a time to really be like, ‘What was I interested in back then?’ Those times played a big role to get it started,” she said of her creative process, sharing that most of the album was done in Los Angeles, California.

Prior to her solo album, Jennie released the single “Mantra” in October 2024, her first track under her self-established label Odd Atelier and Columbia Records.

The erstwhile retail giant renowned for its Blue Light Specials — featuring a flashing blue orb affixed to a pole enticing shoppers to a flash sale — is shuttering its last full-scale store in the mainland United States.

She made her solo debut in November 2018 with the single “Solo,” and released “You and Me” five years later.

Jennie debuted as the lead vocalist and lead rapper of Blackpink in August 2016, which also consists of Jisoo, Rosé and Lisa, who also established their solo careers.
